My Bloody Galentine – Review – STACKED Rating
When three women plot revenge on their exes after they are dumped before Valentine’s Day, their attempts to get even turn deadly.
“My Bloody Galentine” is a fresh Tubi Original that takes the thrill of horror and mixes it up with comedy in a classic style. Don’t be fooled by its thriller label on IMDb; this movie is all about delivering laughs with its over-the-top characters and campy vibe.
Our story kicks off with Jadyn, the leading lady, getting dumped right before Valentine’s Day. Talk about bad timing! She’s just moved to London for a new job and finds herself in a total mess. Luckily, her new co-workers, Brandi and Alex, have also been recently dumped, so they bond over their shared misery. They coin the term “Valentine’s Day clean-out” for guys dumping their girlfriends before the big day of love. Real smooth, fellas.
Their boss, Dominique, decides to turn their misfortune into an opportunity by making the Valentine’s Day event all about girls supporting each other, naming it “Galentine’s.” But things take a bloody turn when the trio decides on revenge against their exes. Not murder, though – they’re more into embarrassing their exes, which turns out to have some unintended consequences.
Ella-Rae Smith takes on the role of Jadyn, delivering a solid performance, but it’s Cassie Clare as Brandi and Miriam-Teak Lee as Alex who steals the show with their crazy antics. Victoria Ekanoye as Dominique adds to the fun with her kitschy boss persona, and Kwaku Mills as Tristan, the catty assistant, brings the perfect amount of sass.
Director Traci Hays knows how to handle this kind of kooky revenge plot, with her previous Tubi Original, “Bloody, Sweat and Cheer,” setting the stage for this campy romp. And Eliza Hayes Maher, the screenwriter, proves her chops with this genre-mix movie, following up on her success with “Deadly DILF” and “Dress for Success.”
Now, I know what you’re thinking – 102 minutes is a bit long for a movie like this. But trust me, it’s worth the watch, especially if you’re into over-the-top, laugh-out-loud comedy with a splash of horror. Whether you’re recently single or just love a good campy flick, “My Bloody Galentine” is sure to hit the spot.
