Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – STACKED Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” took a sharp turn from the Arkham series, diving into a mix of controversy and innovation with its live service elements. Rocksteady’s gamble on this title has fans questioning if it was worth it, blending single-player depth with multiplayer action. Set in the Arkhamverse, the game throws Task Force X into Metropolis to take down a Brainiac-controlled Justice League, delivering about 12 hours of action-packed, story-driven gameplay that both respects and diverges from its predecessors.

This isn’t just another superhero game; it’s a co-op shooter where players become Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, or Captain Boomerang, facing mission-based gameplay that rewards teamwork and strategy. The shift to a shooter was unexpected, but Rocksteady nails it with responsive gunplay and immersive combat, enhanced by top-notch haptic feedback. The game’s traversal mechanics add another layer of fun, letting each character move through Metropolis in unique ways, from Harley’s grapple swings to Deadshot’s jetpack flights.

While the game shines in character play and storytelling, highlighted by humor and engaging character dynamics, its pacing and reliance on repetitive objectives can detract from the experience. Despite these pacing issues, the game’s narrative strength and cinematic quality keep players engaged, offering a fresh take on the DC universe that’s more lighthearted yet still impactful.

The live service aspect introduces a competitive edge, especially in multiplayer mode, without overshadowing the solo experience. Free post-launch content promises to expand the universe further, though the success of these updates remains to be seen. While some fans may miss the purely single-player focus of previous Rocksteady titles, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” delivers a unique blend of fun, action, and storytelling that marks a bold step for the franchise.
